Nuestra Historia – Our Story
¡Hola, amigos! (Hello, friends!)
I started Sweet Amigo to satisfy a craving I had for years. Like all of you, I wanted easily accessible vegan options beyond dark chocolate. I craved the taste that only a sweet vegan milk chocolate bar could fulfill. It took countless attempts and a partnership with an experienced chocolatier to develop the delicious recipe available on the shelves today.
When I think of chocolate, childhood memories of making a chocolatito (hot chocolate) with my abuelita (grandmother) using a traditional molinillo (grinder) come to mind. I love that these fond memories around a delicious treat are motivating me to spread a positive message to so many of our customers and marginalized communities.
Before launching Sweet Amigo, I envisioned a company that aligned with my values, helped my community, reflected my heritage, and sold chocolate as a way of being a force for good. I like to think that the quality that brings all of those items together is empathy. Empathy for animals, people, culture, and our global community.
One of the core goals of the company is to donate a percentage of profits across various nonprofits advocating for social causes, including mental health, animal rights, LGBTQIA+, homelessness, immigration, women’s and minorities’ rights, etc. Our hope is the financial contributions we can make with the support of our customers will help further the amazing work various nonprofit organizations are doing across the world.
However, no one can make lasting change on their own. I set out early on in the process to find authentic people who understood my values and believed that change was possible through chocolate. My search led me to connect with a long-term vegan businessman who had been awaiting an opportunity like this one for years. Soon after, we came across a Latino chocolatier who shares my vision for quality, diversity, and sustainability. Together, we’ve been able to grow our team, develop products, and begin driving positive change around us. Unlike other brands which happen to sell vegan products, Sweet Amigo is an entirely vegan company eager to give back and improve the lives of others through empathy and chocolate.

Bienvenidos (welcome) to Sweet Amigo! We are a Latino-owned company dedicated to producing delicious vegan milk chocolate while making a positive impact in our communities.
At Sweet Amigo, we believe that everyone should be able to enjoy great-tasting vegan chocolate. That’s why we only use vegan ingredients to craft our milk chocolate bars, ensuring that they are not only delicious, but also made with animal welfare and the environment in mind.
Our copacker’s sustainable chocolate manufacturing process incorporates organic, local, and ethically sourced ingredients from farmers and companies in California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. They have also worked tirelessly to establish relationships with farmers and cooperatives in Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Peru to source our ingredients. In addition, the facility is powered by 100% renewable energy which reduces our overall carbon footprint.
